The Advancing exists as a resource to teach, train, and build biblically sound followers of Christ. We want to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ with these five values in mind.

1) Gospel-centered theology

Gospel-centered means to be centered on the “Good news,” that is Jesus Christ, his life, and what he accomplished for us on the cross through his death and resurrection. Jesus is the foundation. It’s all about Jesus.

2) Jesus is God and the only way to salvation

Only through trusting in Jesus and his death and resurrection can anyone be saved and spend eternity in heaven with him. Nothing we do can on our own can earn us God’s favor and grant us salvation. This is only accomplished through faith in Christ and what he has done for us.

3) Submission to God’s word

The Bible is God’s Word given to us and written by men guided by the power of the Holy Spirit as they wrote. Because of that, it is without any error and authoritative and applicable to all mankind. Obedience and adherence to the Bible is critical to grow in one’s relationship with Christ. It is through the Bible that we learn about God–who he is, his love for us, and His will for how we are to live our lives.

4) Complementarian relationships

There is one God that exists in three persons living in perfect harmony with distinct roles–God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Though performing different roles and having different functions, they are all equal. This type of community is what God calls for in churches and in Christian community.

5) The local church is God’s plan for redemption in the world

Christians should involve themselves in a local body of believers where they can learn, grow, be encouraged and be taught, and where God’s Word (the Bible) is preached. God created humans as relational beings and it is in community with others that true transformation takes place. Christian websites, organizations, charities, and the like can be great resources but should not replace involvement in a local church. It is through the Church that God has given the command to reach the nations, and it is in a local church that we can be a part of God’s mission.

Why We Exist

As followers of Jesus, we are called to engage our culture with the truth about Jesus and the Gospel. Christians are not called to separate their faith from the rest of there lives, but rather to live and operate their lives through their relationship with Christ. At The Advancing we want to engage the culture by addressing the issues we deal with in our daily lives, train followers of Christ, and provide resources that are Biblically sound and relevant to the world we live in.

As a new ministry, we look forward to building and expanding the site in order to better serve everyone that we reach.
